This 1910 photo shows the cleaning-up process after sugaring at what was then the Aldrich farmhouse. The Aldrich/Wood family has been making maple syrup here since the early 1800s, and apple cider, cider jelly, and boiled cider since 1882.

I hope he got some cockles and wet fish from the old market to go with that, anyway a good Saturday is guaranteed.
Another press release that doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm somehow:
Somerset’s Brothers Cider has teamed up with Morrisons to launch stubby packs of its Pear Cider and Strawberry Mixed Pear Cider.
The new 10×25cl multipacks are in a “fridge-ready, rip open case – perfect for the summer party season”, according to a spokesman.
Managing director Matthew Showering said:
After being the first commercially available pear cider, we felt it was time to move the cider category on with a new pack format. These new stubby packs are perfect for barbecues and picnics. After listening to feedback from our consumers, we are certain that they will embrace this new pack format.
Brothers worked closely with Morrisons on the development of the product and it will be available exclusively at the supermarket. Cider buyer Fraser Lovatt said early sales were “encouraging”.
The brands debut is being supported by a £2 million TV advertising campaign.
FINE food and poetry workshops joined forces in Ledbury on Sunday (July 5) when the town hosted its second Food and Drink Producers Fair.
Makers of fine fare gathered around the Market House between 11am and 4pm, and among the local traders taking part were Café Français at Sez, Llandinabo Farm Shop, Once upon a Tree cider and apple juice, and Just Rachel ice cream.
Visitors sampled cheese, sausages, pies, bread, vegetables, fruit and hand-made chocolates, and tasted the apple juice, cider, perry and wines on offer too.
