The Nava Spanish Cider Festival – El Sidra FIesta -Festival de la Sidra

The festival takes place on the second weekend in July in the town of Nava in the region of Asturias, North West Spain.

What to expect at the Nava Cider festival

Hundreds of small scale cider producers transcend on the small town of Nava in a bid for acknowledgment, recognition and another crazy Spanish Fiesta. There’s music in the streets, all the bars are open late and in traditional Spanish festival style (sawdust on the floor) with potent, sweet cider on offer. There’s is also the pouring competition- this is the tradition whereby locals practice all year to pour the cider without looking at the glass but by tilting the bottle several feet above the bottle in a skilful feat that results in no spillage !

The second weekend of July and during the previous week was carried out this activity significant for the municipality. In this annual tribute to the cider, declared of National Tourist Interest, a series of cultural events around the cider, lectures, symposia, exhibitions, not forgetting the festive nature of this act.

The weekend celebrated the “International Escanciadores / as and cider tasting conducted by the Association of Traditional Cider Lagareros Nava, offering thousands of liters of wine free for visitors who wish to join the party, subject only to tie a green scarf around his neck to distinguish itself as friends and defenders of the rich as a beverage.

History This sidra fiesta is the result of the volume of apples produced in the Asturia region.

The new year’s cider at the Sagarotegia straight from the barrel and expertly poured was superb, and this bottle was excellent too.
