Asturian Cider – Sidra at Borough Market

On Wednesday 17th October it should be possible to taste Asturian cider ( sidra natural ) and maybe watch a pouring-from-a-great-height demonstration at Borough Market, near London Bridge. This is part of the Taste Spain event – celebrating Spanish food and culture.

But did you know that Londoners can always taste and buy Basque Cider (Sagardoa) which is in the same style as Asturias cider and very good, at Leadenhall Market on a Thursday? That’s thanks to Paul and Helen of de la tierra

    Hello cider lovers,

I’m trying to find a place in London where I can buy Asturian cider (sidra natural). I look forward to the event mentioned above, the ‘pouring from height’ is a skill to behold, especially when the pourer looks at neither bottle nor glass, but I need to get hold of some for an event soon. If anyone knows where I can get some please let me know.

    Many thanks.

    Hello Simon,

Firstly, please note the date of the event above was for 2007, but there may well be a similar event this year. As for wanting to find some Sidra Natural in London – don’t we all! There was a nice Irish couple who imported a couple of vans full but they seem to have moved on again.

One place i’ve been meaning to check out is supposedly a Basque Pintxos bar in Old Street.

    Good luck.

    Many thanks Andy,
I’m glad you warned me about the date. I would have been very disappointed if I’d turned up on the day!
I’ll try to check out the place in Old Street and post back here if I have any success.

    Best,
    Simon
