There has not been a railway station in Blandford for over 40 years, but its hotel, close to where it once was, is still going strong. It's the only free house in town and stays open till the last customer leaves! Serves Stowford press. Cider by Rosie available at their festival during Blandford's Georgian Fair in early May.

Absolutely peaceful, well off the beaten track, the Oak is a gem and well worth a pilgrimage. 6 real ales, real cider and tasty food. Ciders are Weston's Stowford Press, Weston's 1st quality and the local Cider by Rosie

A very interesting display of old cider making equipment. There is also a clock museum and a thriving plant nursery on the same site. Well worth a visit,if you are holidaying in Dorset or even just passing through. The Museum shop has a good range of ciders to buy, including Burrow Hill, Perry's single varieties and Cider by Rosie draught Dorset cider in bottles.

A delightful little pub in an unspoilt village close to Kingston Lacey estate ( National Trust ). You will be made very welcome by Linda who has been the Vine's Landlady for many years.

Traditional dockside boozer with live music weekends. Choice of real ales, I spotted a hand pump labelled "traditional" with a do-it-yourself label in the back bar as I was leaving - its not visible from the front bar so you need to ask! Not sure what they were serving, but it was definately cider. Dogs allowed. Headquarters of the Weymouth trawler race teams. Google Map

Worth Matravers

  • The Square and Compass at Worth Matravers is a real cider pub of immense character. A cider festival is held every November and there are many other special events throughout the year. Charlie has Weston's Organic vintage, Weston's Perry, Stowford Press and Old Rosie , Heck's Perry and single variety ciders, and Cider by Rosie draught medium dry local cider. There are now 5 ciders made by Charlie himself ! They are: Eve's Idea medium, Newton's Law, Vat 17, Sat Down Be, and the landlord's own favourite, his oak matured single variety Charlie's Tree.

The Square is moving more and more towards real full juice ciders and has just been awarded Wessex Pub of the year. A visit is an absolute must if you are in the area. It is a Mecca for cider lovers.

Only 3 buses per day, but a good service 1 mile away at Acton Turning.
