Ice in Cider

Adding frozen water to cider is clearly a sacrilige since it dilutes the pure juice beverage and spoils the taste. Nobody in their right mind would want to buy a pint of cider in a pint glass and accept having the glass half filled with ice first. On the other hand people have grown accustomed to drinking cold cider on a hot day. So one practice has been to sell bottled cider to be poured into a glass full of ice.

Cider Ice

Then somebody had the bright idea of freezing the cider itself, so the frozen cider ice cubes can be served with draught cider. But does that mean the cider which is served in such a way is fit only to be drunk at zero degrees otherwise its horrible? And how does this help to develop a taste for real 100% juice craft cider? One such company which have launched this kind of cider is Westons with their Cider Ice brand.
