Printed version
From Ukcider
The idea of a printed version of this cider guide has come up on the list.
Whilst it might have some benefits for people who like to take a real book away with them, or to buy as a gift for others, what are the practical implications for publishing an edited and "frozen" version of the wiki into print?
Some ideas.
- The wiki itself, as long as the community is working will always be the most up to date version.
- A frozen printed version would still be useful for other purposes, for a limited period. 1-2 years?
- Print-on-demand or speculate with short runs?
- Produce a pdf file(s) and ask for donations to download and print
- The wiki keeps on growing in size as well as value, which is fine. How big is a book?
- Cover price could be kept as low as possible, with some revenue from book sales helping to offset increasing bandwith charges for hosting the wiki, or perhaps a bit more to fund the development of an independent cider campaigning organisation.
