Historical notes - Scrubditch is the name of an boundary ditch, similar to Offa's Dyke, which separated two iron age tribes. This can be seen near the farm. 'Brook Apple' alludes to farm labourers' disparaging description of cider given by some farmers to their workers which was diluted with brook water.
