I have just started making cider. It has been fermenting for approx 2 weeks but on checking it tonight it has mould on the top of it. Can it be rescued?

Hi. What does the moul look like? Is it green flecks, white flecks or a white-ish film? Are your containers tightly covered with air-locks? Is the air-space at an absolute minimum? Is the cider fermenting at all? Have you drawn a small amount off and tasted / smelled it? Check all these and then get back to us. BTW you will get a much quicker response from a more diverese range of beginners and experts if you sign up the the ukcider email group. Good luck. --Ray 12:56, 14 November 2008 (GMT)
