Personally more of a real ale drinker than a cider drinker although in the current financial climate beggars cannot be choosers - that and with passing of years the encountering of good homebrew / small scale microbrew ciders is starting to have a small effect on one's drinking habits
Equipment
Plans are now afoot to self build a dual drum apple mill and horizontal hydraulic press. The press is designed in concept and other than two drums the only other item decided for the mill is that it will not be driven electrically but via hand / pedal / belt driven standing engine
History
2008 - Borrowed a friends 1 gallon vertical press and hand crank apple mill to generate 6 gallons of juice from 4 sacks of Bramley Apples. 5 gallons (100% juice) have been set to brew with 1 bottle of juice given in exchange for the apples and the remainder mixed 2:1 with vodka (some of which will be spiced ready for Christmas)
